Colour Imaging

The Liverpool Telescope interface on the NSO website now has the ability to allow you to select sets of filtered images for the purpose of creating a colour image. This is particularly useful for teaching colour in the curriculum as the telescope systems use filters to allow only one colour of light to fall on the telescope camera at any one time. Once you have received these filtered images from the telescope, it is possible to recombine them to produce a colour image of the object that was observed.

You can see the option "3 colour Galaxies" below when we click on the "Galaxies" option. It is also available through the "Stars" option. Simply follow the instructions provided by Go Observing and pick the colour filters you'd like to use!

In addition, the GCSE Astronomy specification includes opportunities to use colour images in the aided observing
