Dr. Piers Sellers (NASA Astronaut)
On the 20th November 2012, we will be heading to London to conduct an interview with the British born astronaut Dr. Piers Sellers, who has very kindly offered to submit himself to questions from school pupils in the UK.

Piers was born in Sussex and further educated in Kent, Edinburgh and Leeds before moving to the USA to work with NASA. He was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1996, and subsequently flew three missions on the space shuttle in 2002, 2006 and 2012; clocking up a total of 559 hours in space. During the missions he performed a total of six spacewalks (or EVAs) outside the comfort of the shuttle cabin - something that very few astronauts can claim to have done.

It is clear that Piers has led a truly remarkable life, and has experienced things that many millions of us only dare to dream about. As such, we have been given a wonderful opportunity to ask him about those experiences, so please think hard about the interesting questions we can ask and we will try to include as many as we can.

As an added bonus, we thought it might be fun to have one or two UK students actually asking the questions, so please let us know using the following form if you would like to be considered for the role of interviewer.

Deadline for questions has passed - sorry.

Note: the deadline for interest in the interviewer role is Tuesday 16th October 2012, however, interview questions can be submitted until Tuesday 30th October.

Good luck !
